We are building sustainability from the ground up.
Our worms are thriving - please feel free to take home some worm tea - just bring your own container and turn the nozzle.
Parent input to our sustainability area very welcome.
On August 22-26, 2016, we will be celebrating Book Week. This year’s theme is “Australia! Story Country.” In this regard, we have prepared centre-wide activities as well as specific room activities to celebrate this event.

  • From August 22-26, our foyer will be transformed to a mini library and reading corner where children can spend some time with their educators and parents reading and listening to classic and their favourite books.

  • On August 23 (Tuesday) and 26 (Friday), we are asking children to dress up as their favourite character (or family’s favourite) out of a book and/or design and wear a mask to look like a book character. We respectfully require that children do not dress up as commercial characters (Batman, Superman, Elsa etc.) as it is against our centre policy and non-related to books. If possible, we also encourage families to create your own costume and/or recycle existing costumes and transform into a new one. We decided to schedule two dress up days to accommodate children who only attend part time. For those who are full time, you have the option to choose a day or have your children dress up on both days.

  • On August 26 (Friday), we have invited renowned  story teller, Patsy Allan, to come and share stories with the children. See schedules below:

9:45-10:00 Caribous
10:00-10:20 Hornets
10:20-10:45 Spitfires
10:45-11:20 Hercules
11:20-11:45 Jumbos

We welcome parents on this day to join us and listen to Patsy. And also, if your child doesn’t attend childcare on a Friday, if you’re available please feel free to drop by with your child (just refer to the schedule per room).

  • Please feel free to bring as well some books from home that you would like our educators to share with the children.
We believe that children begin to start loving reading and books when they are engaged in meaningful experiences including role play, recreating stories and through close bonding relationships with educators and family members. We welcome our families to be with us in celebrating our love for books and its positive impact to our children. If you have further suggestions on how we can make book week more exciting and meaningful, please let us know.
